Terms of use
Last updated: 9 October 2026
These terms describe permitted use and important limitations of NPS-GeoRisk Navigation, Places, and account services.
Authorized access
Use an account provided or approved by the service administrator. Keep your credentials confidential and report suspected misuse. Do not bypass access controls, impersonate others, attempt unauthorized access, or interfere with the service or its data.
Navigation is advisory
Routes, directions, map layers, and place results are provided for planning assistance. They may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You remain responsible for safe travel, compliance with traffic laws and restrictions, and checking current conditions.
No route is guaranteed safe or free of crime, hazards, closures, or traffic. NPS-GeoRisk is not an emergency-response service. Do not interact with the interface while driving unless it is safe and lawful to do so.
Shared place records
Only submit information you are authorized to use and share. Do not add misleading, unlawful, confidential, or unnecessarily personal content. Custom places are shared with authorized users and may be corrected or removed by other users with access to the Places service.
Availability and changes
The service can be interrupted by maintenance, map imports, provider limits, or technical failures. Features, coverage, and access may change. There is no uptime, real-time-data, or route-quality guarantee unless separately agreed in writing.
Linked MAP accounts and lookup credits
If an administrator links a MAP_Hexagon UID to your navigation account, use only a source account you are authorized to access. H3 data lookups can consume that account's credits under the MAP service's billing rules. A linked account does not guarantee a sufficient credit balance, complete data, or availability. Automatic per-route H3 queries are not enabled by this integration.
Third-party data and services
Map data, routing software, map tiles, and external services remain subject to their respective licences and provider terms. Preserve required attributions when using or redistributing data. See OpenStreetMap copyright and licence information.
Privacy and account administration
Use of the service involves the processing described in our Privacy information. Administrators can edit, disable, or delete accounts and revoke sessions to manage access and protect the service.
Limitations and statutory rights
The service is provided without a promise that every result is complete, accurate, or suitable for a particular journey. Nothing on this page excludes rights or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable South African law.
Questions
Contact the administrator who provided your account for service questions, access issues, or clarification of these terms.
